You got your whole skincare routine down at this point – cleanser, toner, and moisturizer as the basics. Maybe you chose to top it off with an oil during dry months, then of course you have your few go-to face masks for hydration and for when your skin is looking a little troubled or irritated. Then there are serums – and you’re left wondering how they fit into your routine and why they should.
A serum is a liquid that has typically a more viscous consistency and is packed with more concentrated active ingredients than your cleanser or moisturizer. The idea is that larger amounts of actives can penetrate your skin for optimum effectiveness, and the visible results will happen sooner. Common concerns you might see tackled in various serums are dullness, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, or acne. You also usually see a shorter list of ingredients in serums, so you get less additives and more control over what you’re putting on your skin. Depending on what you’re looking to work on depends on what kind of serum you might want to choose. Let’s meet our little serum wonder: Rosewater Serum.
What is the Rosewater Serum?
Developed to be used in tandem with the rest of your Rosewater Regimen, this super soothing serum uses our signature European Damask Roses to refresh your skin while 1% Hyaluronic Acid is a molecule that acts as a humectant to draw water into the skin. The Rosewater Regimen is all about hydrated, glowing skin – so our serum takes that radiance to the next level.
At what step in my skincare regimen should I use a serum?
Because a serum is more lightweight than a moisturizer or night cream, you want to pat it into your skin after you cleanse but before you moisturize. That way your skin is clean and ready to absorb any actives you layer on top of it. The moisturizer or oil you apply last will then lock the serum in so it doesn’t evaporate on the skin.
What are other ways to use a serum?
Our Rosewater Serum has a lovely light scent of a rose, so we like to integrate it into our self-care rituals. Chill a rose quartz facial roller in the fridge, then apply your serum. Roll the roller over your skin to relax and soothe, for a moment of total you time.
