What Does PCR Packaging Mean?

beauty

As you may have noticed, our packaging has gotten a whole lot prettier lately. Inspired by nature and the soul-to-skin beauty that we’re all about, we decided the brand needed a little refresh. And since one of our key beliefs is that everything we do and make should be good for both the people and the planet, we decided to expand that mission to what our bottles and packaging are made of.

The first step in becoming a more planet-friendly brand was about transitioning our bottles to either glass or PCR (post-consumer resin). Not sure what that means? Let’s get a little nature-nerdy and dive into what exactly will be sitting cute on your bathroom sink.

What is post-consumer resin?

PCR (or post-consumer resin) is an environmentally-friendly plastic that supports the guidelines of recycling programs while reducing the impact on landfill waste. It’s made from existing bottles or plastics and with billions of plastic bottles being sold annually, there is a real need for this kind of innovation.

What are some of the benefits of PCR?

Since the plastic used in PCR already exists, the choice to switch to this kind of packaging is beneficial to the environment. Also, reprocessing plastic instead of making more uses less fossil fuel.

How can I help?

If you recycle, you already are! Those milk jugs and bottles you put into a blue bin weekly just might wind up in your beauty product packaging in the future.

Also, where you put your money matters  taking the time to read labels and ask questions is so important when it comes to living in a way that’s good for the planet. Shopping mindfully and purchasing products that are cruelty-free and as clean as possible.
